Rudimentary Peni – "The Underclass EP" (Outer Himalayan Records – booboo7) 2000
You know what?.....this is more like it. Proper no nonsense punk metal, with a guitar sound like a buzzsaw cutting through a corrupt bankers crushed stone driveway. Topped off with Blinko's best gravel gargling vocals since 'Cacophony'; and great psychotic scribbled on padded cell toilet paper artwork. All the songs are between 58 seconds and one minute thirty in length, so they never overstay their welcome, and in some cases fit into the 'Leave 'em wanting more' slot from the annals (or anals) of 'Showbiz'. I think i could listen to the riff for "No Other Truth" for a good twenty minutes, with no need for extra vocals.......this is always a concept i have always wanted to explore musically, a bit like a heavy metal Circle*(*the finnish group who explored the magic of repetition to the nth degree).
As this RP EP only lasts less than fifteen minutes, that concept interests me more.......is a song as long as a piece of string, and if so do they merely 'end', or just 'stop'? And when they stop or end, does the effect end or stop with them.Music's magick can be truly infinite in the sonic chapter of the 'Theory of Relativity': Energy = mass divided by the speed of sound squared or E=mc2( i looked up the mathematical synbol for the speed of sound, and it was the same as for the speed of light!); so the faster the song moves the more time distorts, and bends back in on itself.Therefore are short songs really short? And would they exist if we weren't here to listen to them; for they are just different wavelengths of air movement, and you sure as hell can't listen to a movement of air pressure without a brain to create the language to understand it. Language is a virus and music is a language.
What i'm saying is, short songs may end, but their effect can last many times longer than their actual acknowledged length,like a microcosm of curved space/time in your Brain,which is the only place that music, or non-music, actually exists.

The 80s music scene in downtown New York brought a lot of great stuff, including the barrage of eponymous Downtown Music projects, No Wave and other noisy cacophonies. Unfortunately, these scenes are not represented very well here, aside from some more obscure inclusions. It starts off with the title track, a very cheesy eighties anthem about living "downtown". So, yeah.
Some gems are to be found here, though. Tracks such as the second by Mark Johnson, who put out a classic Baroque pop private press album in the 70s. Another highlight is the contributions by Timber side project Rude Buddha and the post-No Wave of Ritual Tension. Some other good things to be found are the minimal synthpop of Soma Holiday and avant-folksong of Songs From A Random House. I don't really care for the rest, sadly. You may, though.

DISEÑO CORBUSIER - DIRECTO EN PALACIO DE CÓRDOVAS MAYO 1984 (UNRELEASED, OPEN REEL TAPE, 1985) (WAV)
DEDICADO A MI QUERIDO "COSINOT" AUTODOLOR.
Seguimos rescatando materiales perdidos del blog HAND BEANIES / SPAIN PAIN, aquello tan grande y hermoso que hizo aquel chaval de la manita sobre la cabeza.
Escribía mi "cosinot" AUTODOLOR allá por el día 23 de septiembre de 2011, supongo que más o menos a la hora del té:
Hace ya bastante tiempo (más de un año..) que recibí esta grabación, por cortesía de Javier. He de decir que ha sido un auténtico laberinto poder entregar esto. Recibí la bobina llena de cinta aislante, sobrepasando su diámetro...
Primero, que mis hermanos disponían de aparatos Revox A77 y Uher 724, y estaba confiado en volcar el audio. ¿Funcionaban? NO SEÑOR!
Segundo, consigo otro Revox A77, que me cede un amigo de mi hermano. ¿Funcionaba? NO SEÑOR!
Tercero, que cuando consigo encontrar un Revox B77 que funciona -gracias Félix por tu ayuda-, la cinta presenta cortes, siendo la primera parte (temas 01 Y 02) la de mejor sonido. El resto debió ser grabado con una cinta usada, que mostraba una calidad bastante mala, y me ha llevado muchísimo trabajo "restaurar". También recibí el master de "Stadia", que pese a haber sido posteado en varios blogs (Nostalgie de la boue y Wet dreams, por ejemplo..), lanzaré en breve por su sonido más limpio.
Cuarto, que he de agradecer a Ani Zinc las fotos del evento. Este concierto fué compartido en cartel junto a los grupos Interacción y La caída de la casa Usher, en el Palacio de Córdovas, en Granada. Atención, no sé si es Córdovas o Córdobas!!! Lamentablemente, sólo a Javier se le ocurrió grabar su actuación. Diseño Corbusier sólo actuaron dos veces en directo. Añadir que este acto fué posible al empeño de Fonsi Carnicero, persona fundamental en la escena granadina de aquellos años, que, junto a su hermano, elaboraban el fanzine "La visión".
Quinto, que, según Javier, todo estaba improvisado y no hay títulos, aunque se reconoce una versión de "La fábrica no está cerca".
Sexto, que la maquinaria que usaban Diseño Corbusier eran un Roland SH-101, un Korg Lambda ES50, receptores de radio y el Revox A77 , con su doble reverb. Puede ser alguna cosa más, pero eso es lo que me dice..
Séptimo, que hoy empieza otoño y va a caer un pedazo de satélite al planeta.
Octavo, que como caiga en mi tejado, me voy a cagar en las muelas de la madre del presidente de la NASA.
Novena, la que voy a rezar, no sea cosa que lo del cielo sea cierto...
Décimo, el que espero me toque el sábado en la lotería, si me libro del bólido.
Onceavo, que ya está bien de tonterías, y a escuchar esta sorprendente grabación de... DISEÑO CORBUSIER.
Pues eso... a disfrutar y a callar...

I think I have selected "Mercy Of Slumber" as the tune that is played as the handful of mourners at my cremation shuffle out of the crematorium to go to the pub.
Don't think me a cynic,but,the four lines to opener "One and All" are one of the most profound summations of the human condition in pop music.(see above as scrawled on the sleeve).
This is Metal as it should be played,and how it should sound, basically. Although to use the 'Metal' pigeon hole is a great disservice to a legendary combo. It isn't Metal, because you have to be a complete Twat to play in an HM group. And to my knowledge Blinko is too mentally ill to be a complete Twat.

Trijo - Trijo (Panton, 1989)
深く根を張った成木が、古層から水分を吸い上げ、瑞々しい空気を蒸散させる。この作品から想起したイメージは、実際にチェコのオルタナティヴ・シーンで彼らが取り組んでいたことの本質でもあると思う。ヴィオラ・ダ・ガンバ奏者Voitéch Havel（ヴォイチェフ・ハヴェル）の卒業コンサートを機に結成。83年から即興と実験を重ねてきたチェロ＋サックス＋ビブラフォンの3人に、現代音楽アンサンブルAgon Orchestraの設立者でありピアニストのMiroslav Pudlák（ミロスラヴ・プドラーク）が加わった4人組Trijo（トリーオ）。スリーヴノートではクラシック〜ジャズ〜フォークロアの地境を超える新しい音楽の動向を、OregonやW. A. Mathieuを例に引きながら解説している。繰り返し聴いたプドラーク作の "Leden" はチェコ語で「1月」のこと。

地元ヴェネツィアで活動する50人の音楽家をリストし、その中から21曲を収録したコンピレーション。おおよそアンビエント・サイドというべきY面で紹介されているのは、一昨年Antinoteから発掘音源がリリースされた当地の電子音楽シーンの草分け的存在Gianni Visnadi（ジャンニ・ヴィズナーディ）。Michael Nyman Ensembleのメストレ公演ではオープニングを務めたジャズポップ・グループFreecko。絵画・彫刻の展覧会やダンスシアターの音楽を手掛けた電子音楽家Massimo Mazotti（マッシモ・マツォッティ）。翌年Sub Rosaからソロ作をリリースする打楽器奏者Bebo Baldan（ベボ・バルダン）。Gigi Masin（ジジ・マシン）の "ヴェネツィアの8つの眺望" は「新しい室内楽 Vol.2」とは別のバージョン。Sub RosaとPixel & Boと共同で年内にソロCDがリリースされると記されているが、それはお蔵入りとなり、後に「Lontano」に収録されることに。
Gianni Gebbia - First Solo Lp Unissued Tapes 1986 (Objet-a, 2017)

シチリア島パレルモ出身のサックス奏者Gianni Gebbia（ジャンニ・ジェッビア）が、85-86年にプライベート・スタジオSound Eventで4トラックのカセットレコーダーを使って録音していた初作「Gianni Gebbia」のデモ＆アウトテイク。"Vedersi Passare Le Cose Attorno" はテンポの遅いシャッフルであったり、"CUD" は当初のピアノからやわらかなシンセに置き換えられていたりと、テイクを重ねるごとにアレンジが変わっている。中でも#10 "Ehwaz" から#13 "Algiz" の4曲は、初作だけでなく他の作品でも聴くことのできないようなエレクトロニックな要素を全面に押し出したスタジオ実験的なアンビエント・ジャズで、アルバムのアウトラインが定まる前の創作衝動や閃きのかけらが初々しく浮遊している。「Early Soprano & Sopranino Solos 1988-89」と同時にobjet-aのバンドキャンプを通じてデジタル・リリース。
Jon Gibson - Relative Calm (New World Records, 2016)
40年以上にわたりニューヨークを拠点に活動し、ミニマル・ミュージック第一世代の歴史的作品に参加してきた作曲家／マルチリード奏者Jon Gibson（ジョン・ギブソン）。子供の頃からペインティングやドローイングに勤しみ、ビジュアル・アーティストとして音楽の順列構造やプロセスに基づくグラフィック作品を発表。劇場・オペラ・映画・ビデオ・写真といった視覚表現に強い親和性をもつ音楽作品を作曲している。このCDは、81年12月にブルックリン・アカデミー・オブ・ミュージックのコンテンポラリー・ダンス〜オペラ・シリーズ「The Next Wave」の中で演じられた、振付師Lucinda Childs（ルシンダ・チャイルズ）と舞台美術家Robert Wilson（ロバート・ウィルソン）の共同作品「Relative Calm」のための音楽。昨年7月のインタビュー記事（インタビュアーはCatch WaveのBritton Powell）では、85年のビデオ作品が紹介されていた。

Arthur Russell（アーサー・ラッセル）を手がかりに80年代ニューヨークの前衛シーンにテクノ／ハウスの角度からスポットを当てる、ブルックリン拠点のレーベルWilde Calm Records。レーベルを主宰するSkooby Laposky（スクービー・ラポスキー）が、2014年「String Figures」と同時期に制作していたというミニマル・エディット。マリンバやクラップ、コンガ、管楽器といった生楽器の音色を主体に、ミニマル・ミュージックの根源にある民族音楽〜パーカッションのプリミティヴな律動がモダンなダンス・ミュージックへと昇華される。B面に収められた "Marimbas" はライヒの代表曲のひとつ "Six Marimbas" へのオマージュで、反則と言いたくなるほど直球、でもこの上ない反復の快楽に誘われるモンスター・トラック。

古式ゆかしい身なりで妙ちきりんなお囃子を奏でながら、わけも分からず目の前を過ぎ去ってゆく祭り行列のよう。シリアスなのか笑ってよいものか、ギミック満載の摩訶不思議サウンドをきかせる10インチレコード「魔術世界と肉食性空間」。パリの先駆的なパントマイム・スクールTEMPの指導者Monique Bertrand（モニク・ベルトラン）とMathilde Dumont（マチルド・ドゥモン）によるマイム劇のための音楽で、作曲者は演劇・ダンスの付帯音楽や映画音楽の仕事に従事していたスペイン出身のFrancisco Semprun（フランシスコ・センプルン）と、ギリシャ出身のMichel Christodoulides（ミカエル・クリストドーリデス）のコンビ。
NTS Radio: Okonkole Y Trompa - 1987 Special
パリのレーベルAntinoteのクルーPAMと日系人DJサトシ・ヤマムラ。L’International RecordsでVito Ricciのレコードをきっかけに出会ったという2人が、2015年にスタートさせた音楽ブログ「オコンコレ・イ・トロンパ」。彼らが選曲を受け持つNTS Radioのマンスリー・プログラムより、1月5日放送回「1987年特集」。Archie Shepp & Jasper Van't Hof "Pulse Of The Roots" ♪
