コロンブスの新大陸発見〜スペイン人入植以前のアニミズムに基づく先住民族文化研究を目的に、1970年に首都ボゴタのコロンビア国立大学で結成されたグループYaki Kandru（ヤキ・カンドル＝「飢えている」の意）。リーダーは人類学者のJorge López Palacio（ホルヘ・ロペス・パラシオ）。70年代はボゴタ国立演劇学校でボーカルテクニックの講師を務め、コロンビア国立交響楽団所属のテノール歌手として、またスペイン伝承歌謡のスペシャリストとして活動。82年からフランスを拠点とし、パリの国際音楽療法センターなどヨーロッパの大学・研究機関で人類学を教える傍ら、北はアラスカ、南はパタゴニアに及ぶアメリカ大陸全域に残された儀式・日常の歌・楽器を研究を続け、コンサートシリーズ「Music of the World」やワークショップを通じて、先住民族文化の理解普及に寄与。今作はその研究と実践の成果として、1982年にドイツのFolk Freakから、86年にコロンビアのFonosonから異なるアートワークで発表されたセカンドアルバム。独盤のタイトルは「Indianische Musik Aus Kolumbien（コロンビアのインディアン音楽）」。メキシコのAntonio ZepedaやLuis Pérezとも共通する志向を感じさせつつも、こちらはエレクトロニクスは一切使用せず。付属のブックレットでも紹介されている多種多様な民族楽器のアコースティックな響きと人の声の掛け合いから、民族霊性と神話的時間を現代の録音空間に呼び覚ます、土や木や雨の香りを放つプリミティヴなプレヒスパニック・フォークを演じた一枚。
In 1971, in Colombia, Jorge Lopez Palacio, singer and anthropologist, share with his group for the desert of Goajira charged with an immense basket full of musical instruments, it is to offer to Goajiros a concert made up of music and songs amérindiens, and to make known to them thus, the existence and the culture of other Indian groups. This teaching work based on solidarity with the Indian communities, it will learn the musical, philosophical and human lessons which will give direction to the artistic step of Yaki Kandru whose creations will be presented in very many concerts, in Latin America then in Europe. In this long history, this concert inaugurates a new stage. It affirms the fundamental role of the song in the indigenous cultures and the value symbolic system of the voice, voice which knows the world, poetizes it. This concert, testimony of alive cultures, is a homage to the indigenous people of Americas, their creativity, their philosophies, their fights. This concert " Music of the World " invites to the meeting, opens with new spaces of poetry and creation. Of its foundation at our days, this group carried out several discs and of the hundreds in concerts in Latin America, Europe and Africa. ▲
